Prop Sam Steventon will arrive in the island on Monday and he will be followed by centre Ken Hellier from New Zealand the following week.

'Sam is a young prop, about 24, who has played around National One and Two level, but he is actually coming from Finland where he has been playing on a contract,' said GRFC director of rugby Jordan Reynolds.

'He predominantly plays on the loose-head side and hopefully he will be a good asset to the team.

'Ken is playing in the Christchurch competition at the moment and is the leading point-scorer there.

'We thought we would take the opportunity to add to our backline and he will be arriving about 7 September and hopefully will be able to start playing a couple of weeks after that.'

The news of two new arrivals is a boost to a squad who are also set to have fly-half Owen Thomas back in action very soon after he suffered a broken ankle in the Siam Cup match in May.
