Vance: ‘We ran out of resources’

TONY VANCE claimed that people ‘don’t know the reality’ as Guernsey FC battled valiantly before losing for a sixth successive Bostik South outing last night.

Goals from Tommy Hutchings and Daniel Ajakaiye in the 74th and 78th minutes gave Whyteleafe a 2-0 home victory and pushed Vance’s men down to 21st in the league table.

After the game, a despondent Vance said he was proud of the limited number of players he had and that even two of the most successful managers in the history of the game would be struggling.

He also went on to lay into those criticising his side’s recent form.

‘We ran out of resources, quite simply,’ said the Green Lions manager.

‘I am so proud of the way they [the players] have tried to get something out of the game.

‘But it is tough at the moment, chatting to their manager before the game he had 29 [players] to choose from, we had 12 and it doesn’t matter if you are Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho, you are going to struggle.'
