Picking up the ball just inside his own half shortly before the interval, Loaring advanced a few yards before spotting Ramsgate goalkeeper Luke Watkins off his line and the GFC man judged his long-range chip to perfection to give his side a 1-0 half-time lead.

‘I actually don’t think Matt had one of his better games to be fair,’ said Tony Vance.

‘It didn’t quite run for him, it’s a difficult pitch for him, but the strike was outstanding.

‘That’s the second time this goalie has been chipped from a distance – I think Charlton did it to him at home – so he won’t be happy with that, but it was a strike that, as soon as it left his boot, you thought “this is going in”.’

After the break, the home side came flying out of the blocks and were ahead within 13 minutes as Rory Smith notched a brace.

However, substitute Dave Rihoy equalised with 20min. remaining, executing a fine finish after the ball fell to him on the edge of the box.
