The clash of first against third at Footes Lane on Saturday was as competitive as the standings suggested it would be between two committed teams who each had their chances, but it was the leaders who were clinical in their finishing to maintain their perfect record in the Alliance Women’s League with a 4-1 win over Cubs.

They also had Emma Atkinson at the other end and the island goalkeeper was in outstanding form with a couple of her second-half saves coming right out of the top drawer.

Liza Sayer's goal put Puffins 1-0 at half-time before Ruby Swaisland scored a second-half brace to go along with Nicole Hewlett's strike for the leaders.

Cubs deservedly replied through Becky Hambleton.

Meanwhile Men’s Division One leaders Colombians eased to a 5-1 victory over Elizabeth College on Saturday.

Goals from Zak Damarell and Sam Dawes gave their side a 2-0 half-time lead before TJ Ozanne, Nick Craze and Damarell added to their tally in the second half with Lewis Perfitt netting the students’ consolation.
