Hawks fly in and take all three points

WHAT a glorious day it was to fly in for your first Isthmian South East League game on an offshore island.

Well, if you win that is and that is exactly what Whitehawk did for their lively bunch of supporters who long before the end were triumphantly singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, their presence having lifted the attendance just over the thousand mark.

GFC can again have no complaints.

Whitehawk were worthy 2-1 winners and GFC again meek in attack, the goals having worryingly dried up.

The team who have twice tried to rename themselves Brighton City only to be stymied by the FA and, second time around, by their own fans, are a progressive lot and they came out on top thanks to goals from Ahmed Abdulla and the game's outstanding performer Lucas Santos Rodrigues.

Tom Strawbridge halved the deficit with a headed goal in the 87th minute, but it proved to be just a consolation for the hosts who have now gone six games without a win.
