The Greens took the lead midway through the first half through Tyrese Kelly before Seaney McColgan rifled home a Jersey equaliser on 33 minutes.
Guernsey captain Fin Du Port then curled a superb free kick over the Jersey wall and into the top corner to instantly restore the home lead.
Jersey turned things around either side of half time, however, as first Guernsey went awol to allow Stan Dunne to slot home and then early after break, were caught out by a quick throw as McColgan gave the visitors the lead for the first time on the night.
Dunne and Jersey captain Will Yates killed the game off before Guernsey’s Tom Solway was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident that left player-of-the-match Dunne hobbling.
‘We started off aggressive, on the front foot and that’s exactly what we wanted from the start,’ said Guernsey manager Dave Merris.
‘Tyrese got his goal, very happy for him to get that, then they got the goal back and how we reacted to that, and Dupes’ free kick, was a great response.
‘We just needed to kind of continue that into the latter part of the game.’
His opposite number Jack Cannon was understandably a happy man afterwards.
‘Obviously in the first half it was a tight game, Guernsey made work tough work for our team and scored a great free kick, but I always felt confident once we got a foothold in the game and got the ball down and got it wide, we’d cause them problems,’ said the Jersey manager.
The fixture was rearranged from November after being postponed following the sudden collapse of airline Blue Islands.
