Storm Floris stops play at U19 World Cup qualifier

The impending arrival of Storm Floris and the amber weather warnings issued across much of Scotland yesterday caused the postponement of Guernsey’s clash with Jersey in the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup Europe Qualifier.

All three of the scheduled fixtures have been rearranged for today.

Guernsey will be returning the the Forfarshire Cricket Club ground where they lost their rain-affected opening clash to the Netherlands.

Since then, they have been edged out by Sweden by two wickets in a thriller that went down to the wire.

Ed Robinson, Freddie Forshaw and Harry Johnson all chipped in with useful runs as Guernsey made 195 and they had Sweden 141 for 8 in reply before an unbroken stand of 55 got them home with two balls to go.

On game day three hosts Scotland proved too strong for the Sarnians, despite a fine all-round performance from captain Charlie Forshaw, who claimed three wickets and top-scored with 43.

After facing Jersey today, Guernsey complete their campaign against Denmark tomorrow.
