The club said the error came to light following their 1-1 draw with Bedfont Sports in last Saturday’s extra-preliminary round tie at Victoria Park.
It was the club’s first fixture in the FA Cup at the new home of Guernsey football as they made their return to the competition after nine years away.
The club confirmed the news in a short statement posted to their social media channels on Thursday evening, having reported the error to the FA earlier in the week.
‘We have just received official confirmation that the club has been removed from this season’s competition, and that Bedfont Sports Club FC has been awarded the tie and will progress to the preliminary round.’
GFC and Bedfont had been due to replay the tie after the weekend draw, with a home clash against Kingstonian awaiting the winner.
The Green Lions kick-off their new league campaign at home against Wick this Saturday as they begin life back at step five of non-league football following their relegation to the Southern Combination Premier Division.
They still have a cup competition to contend this season as they return to the FA Vase with a trip to Bexhill United on 23 August.
