Contesting the Guernsey Sports Commission’s namesake trophy in next month’s annual presentation are world Championship hurdler Alastair Chalmers, England footballers Maya Le Tissier and Alex Scott, and successful race driver Seb Priaulx.

Chalmers has run faster than ever over the 400m hurdles this season, posting 48.30sec. in victory at the Weltklasse Rehlingen to go well within a particularly tough World Championships qualifying time.

After confirming his ‘Worlds’ spot by finishing second at the UK Championships, he headed out to the Japanese capital in September and repeated his accomplishment of Eugene 2022 by making the semi-finals.

Before the main summer season had even begun, he had already achieved the milestone of his first senior medal for Great Britain – a bronze in the mixed 4x400m at the Apeldoorn 2025 European Indoor Championships.

Maya Le Tissier now has 12 senior England caps to her name – making her the island’s most-capped footballer at this level.

The England defender overtook Matt Le Tissier’s record of eight senior caps in October and has continued to impress on the international stage since.

In the summer, she came away with a Euros gold after the Lionesses beat Spain in the final to retain their title.

As the captain of Manchester United, she was also in record-setting form as she achieved an unprecedented 71 consecutive starts for the same Women’s Super League club. Her side finished third in the 2024-2025 table and she then became their first goal-scorer in the Women’s Champions League.

Scott also laid claim to being a senior England footballer by achieving his first call-up in November.

The midfielder had already celebrated great success with England at age-group level, having been an integral part of the squad that won the Uefa European U21 Championship in June.

He started five of the six fixtures, including England’s 3-2 triumph against Germany in the final.

Alongside all this Scott, who only turned 22 in August, has become a regular for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Priaulx is the last of the Sarnian sporting stars nominated for the GSC Trophy, having finished a terrific third in-class at the North America’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – his highest position for a full season.

Having left former outfit AO Racing and become a Ford factory driver, he returned to the GTD Pro class alongside Germany’s Mike Rockenfeller.

The No 64 Ford Mustang GT3 duo celebrated race victories at both Detroit and Indianapolis.

They had achieved two other race podiums – a second at Elkhart Lake and third in the season opener at Daytona – and missed out by a single place at both Virginia and Road Atlanta at the tail-end of the campaign.

Guernsey’s finest sportspeople, teams, event organisers and other hard-working figures will be competing across 11 other categories at the presentation night.

This includes 14 sportspeople – many of them youngsters – contesting the Sir John Loveridge Trophy for greatest progress, while 11 vie for the Lambourne Shield marking outstanding U18 achievement.

The GSC-hosted awards night takes place at Beau Sejour from 6.30pm on Thursday 8 January.
