Having become the island‘s first paid head coach in early 2023, and served as the full-time director of netball for the last two seasons, she said it has been an ‘absolute pleasure’ to see the sport grow.
But Carns has now confirmed that she has handed in her notice and is looking to start a new chapter.
‘It’s time for a change,’ she said.
‘I was thinking about it early in the year, and in February I felt I was ready to hand the reins to someone else.
‘I’m a very ambitious and growth-focused person and I just felt that I have taken it as far as we can go with me at the helm.
‘It needs someone with fresh eyes and fresh energy and fresh blood.’
The Guernsey Netball Association will now be reviewing the best way forwards and will continue to be assisted by Carns until June.
This comes after both islands announced a one-year pause on the inter-insular following failed negotiations, with former England captain and Jersey performance lead Serena Kersten publicly criticising aspects of Guernsey’s approach.
Many of Guernsey’s top junior players from Rathbones (formerly Praxis) will instead be competing in a ‘Channel Island Challenge’ on Jersey soil this weekend.
