The basketball titan had seemingly retired before the 2024-25 season as Guernsey’s most-capped male player, but that lasted little over a year before he got the bug again, leading up to him celebrating a new men’s Division One title success with Skipton.
Even having represented Guernsey over 100 times across a career exceeding two decades, league titles have been a rare occurrence for Beausire.
‘It’s great to come back and win another title,’ the 41-year-old said.
‘This is my fourth. To say the number of years I have played, I’ve not won many league titles.’
Despite now being into his veteran years, Beausire could be seen hustling tirelessly on defence during the winner-takes-all season finale against Savills.
He still towers over most of his opponents, yet he is visibly leaner than before – a result of his endeavours since his supposed retirement.
He completed the Guernsey Marathon just over 12 months ago and is still clocking up the miles with triathlon in mind, which has contributed to him shedding an impressive 10kg.
‘It’s certainly a difference,’ he said.
‘I wanted to do a couple of different challenges last year – running the marathon was a massive one to achieve.
‘My fitness is probably at a higher level than it has been for a while – endurance as opposed to explosive fitness.
‘I tend to recover a lot quicker and run for a lot longer.’
Although he is a different player physically, some things do not change so easily.
‘I missed the camaraderie between the players,’ he admitted in respect to his decision to rejoin basketball training over the winter.
Whether or not Beausire returns for another season on court is to be determined, but the driven sportsman is certain to find a way to challenge himself.
