In a statement, her family said they were sad to announce that Mrs Beaumont had passed away peacefully at home after a long and happy life. Her husband died on 3 July.

Lt-Colonel Reg Guille, a friend of the couple and former president of Chief Pleas, said Mrs Beaumont was a gracious lady who was always full of fun.

'In her younger days she loved dancing and parties and she took to the responsibility of being the Seigneur's wife extremely well when they came to the island more than 40 years ago,' he said.

Mrs Beaumont's funeral will take place at St Peter's Church, Sark, at 11am on Monday.
