Her Royal Highness Princess Anne will visit the Bailiwick on Wednesday 18 July and will inspect some local lighthouses as well as visiting Torteval Church to mark its bicentenary.
The Princess Royal is Master of Trinity House, which was founded in 1514 by Royal charter and now maintains over 60 lighthouses around England, Wales, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar.
Her Royal Highness last visited the Bailiwick in November 2011. On that occasion, she arrived by helicopter from the Queen’s Flight and attended Le Rondin School to meet pupils and staff and, as Patron of the Wooden Spoon Society, to view some of the equipment that the society had donated to the school.
As President of the Animal Health Trust she then attended a private reception at Schroders Bank, before going on to Le Murier School, where she met pupils and staff and saw a climbing wall donated by the Wooden Spoon Society.
After a short private visit to the Guernsey Rugby Football Stadium at Footes Lane, in her capacity as Commandant in Chief (Youth) of St John Ambulance, she then visited the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary. She also attended a fundraising dinner at Beau Sejour in support of the Animal Health Trust, of which she is president.
She also visited in June 2007, September 2001, June 1996, May 1996, May 1986, May 1972 and May 1956.
