Dr Farid Fouladinejad has been involved in delivering improvements in healthcare throughout his career.
He has more than 20 years’ experience across the UK National Health Service in London hospitals, and has been involved in acute, community, primary care and public health roles.
He said that MSG chairman Steve Evans had sold Guernsey and the MSG to him.
'His enthusiasm and commitment to the residents of Guernsey stood out and was a driver for me to hit “send” on the application,’ he said.
‘I was attracted by a job description that showed an organisation that is very aspirational. The aim to be world-class in a small island is exceptional.
'Healthcare organisations across the world are facing many challenges – whereas the MSG clearly intends to build on its strengths and enter the next phase of its journey, delivering world class healthcare for the residents of Guernsey. The diverse expertise and extensive knowledge of the MSG team, combined with the wider health system that it operates in, is almost unique, and its private/public model is one that other health systems aspire to achieve and could learn from.
‘I am really looking forward to joining a diverse local community and getting involved in the many facets of this beautiful island life.’
Dr Fouladinejad has also worked as a technical consultant for a US-based healthcare consultancy, has experience working in healthcare systems in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and was most recently a partner and chief operating officer at a primary care group.
‘I am motivated by delivering and facilitating change with clinical teams. The engineer in me enjoys enhancing processes and teams to make the working environment rewarding and effective for clinicians and patients alike,’ he added.
‘My style is very patient and process centric and involves observing and learning about people, their needs and how they work, so that I can understand the strengths and challenges of an organisation from an internal and external perspective.’
Dr Michelle Le Cheminant, deputy chair at the MSG, said: ‘Farid brings a wealth of experience across both secondary and primary care. His strong strategic insight, combined with his calm and cooperative leadership style, make him a great fit for the MSG.’
Previous CEO John Buckland left the group last June.
