In this year’s events in Guernsey and Sark, more than £28,000 was raised by more than 800 people who took part.
All money raised goes to the Guernsey branch of Cancer Research UK.
Event founder and main organiser Dani Barnett said that the event was much more than a running race.
‘It’s about our community standing together, raising awareness, and making a real difference. Seeing people come together with purpose and positivity was truly inspiring,’ she said.
‘We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered, or cheered participants on.’
The event in Sark is gathering more and more participants each year.
‘This annual event is becoming a powerful tradition in our community, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone, whether you’re walking, running, or cheering from the sidelines, to be part of something so special,’ said Natalie Tighe.
‘We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has taken part and helped raise vital funds for this great cause. A very special thank you must go to Dani in Guernsey, whose tireless dedication and behind-the-scenes work make this event possible – without her, it simply wouldn’t happen.’
Sark’s event raised more than £4,000 and Guernsey more than £23,000, bringing the total since the local event started in 2022 to more than £100,000.
The money raised will help to support Cancer Research UK’s work in Southampton, funding research that improves early diagnosis, treatments and survival rates. This benefits Guernsey patients who are now included in clinical trials offering new treatments.
The Race for Life was sponsored by Bright Electrical.
Plans are already in the works for next year’s event.
