Keane Priaulx, 18, admitted a total of six offences when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court from custody.
The court was told how a woman at Les Genats Estate had heard shouting outside her home at about 6.30pm one evening.
When she opened the door the defendant was abusive towards her before spitting at her.
When she chased after him, he spat in her face before pushing her to the floor. When police arrived he was verbally aggressive towards them and had to be restrained.
During the struggle that ensued he elbowed one officer between her nose and top lip, causing it to bleed.
The guilty plea was entered on the basis that his action had been reckless and not deliberate. He kicked another male officer in the thigh.
He was released on bail.
Some three weeks later an incident occurred in Mojitos at the South Esplanade at about 1.30am in which he head butted another male on the dance floor.
No complaint was made and the prosecution evidence relied on CCTV footage from the bar.
He also admitted failing to surrender to court custody on 11 August, and breaching a probation order that was imposed for a previous assault by failing to attend an appointment.
Defending, Advocate Sara Mallett said society had let her client down.
She told the court of his difficult and troubled upbringing and medical issues.
Counsel said the system was broken and she struggled to think of a case where such a young person had been failed more than in Priaulx’s case.
Lt-Bailiff Russell Finch said this was a very sad story.
The defendant, who was only 18, had had many problems in his life.
But he had assaulted four people, including two women, and these were serious offences. Police officers acting in the line of duty deserved protection and that needed to be emphasised.
Priaulx was ordered to serve three months youth detention, consecutive, for each of the assaults at Les Genats Estate, with Lt-Bailiff Finch saying that the total sentence would have been 18 months, had it not been for the difficulties that Priaulx had had in his life.
One month, concurrent, was meted for both assaulting someone at Mojitos and failing to surrender to court custody.
The probation order which he breached will continue.
