Alderney to continue subsidising ferry service

Alderney is again intending to use States funds to support a ferry service between the island and Guernsey next summer.

The island’s Economic Development Committee said it believed that the service continued to offer important connectivity for the island and would open a new procurement process to invite bidders on to the route for 2026.

The procurement process will be launched shortly.

‘Reliable transport links are absolutely vital for Alderney’s community and economy,’ said committee chairman Stuart Clark.

‘By inviting submissions from providers in the market, we aim to ensure the best possible service for passengers and provide confidence in the sustainability of the route for the year ahead.’

Last year the island added a small ferry link with Jersey and an air connection with the island, with the committee described as a great step forward.
