French regional airline Finistair provided the service between the islands last year, along with additional flights from Jersey to Brest in Brittany.

Its CEO Loic Andro said the company was thrilled to be returning to Alderney.

‘Alderney is a truly magnificent island, and we are proud to play our part in connecting it with the mainland and making it accessible to more people,’ he said.

‘For us, this route is about much more than just flying – it is about opening up a gem of the Channel Islands that deserves to be discovered by as many travellers as possible.

‘By operating this service, we hope to help break the island’s isolation and give both visitors and residents easier, more convenient access.’

The service will operate twice weekly, on Fridays and Sundays, from the last week of May through to the end of September, replicating the schedule trialled last year while extending the operating window significantly.

A dedicated banner for Jersey and Alderney flights will be included on the airline’s website.

‘This is an exciting opportunity for Alderney,’ said Stuart Clark, chairman of Alderney’s Economic Development Committee.

‘The success of the 2025 trial demonstrated real demand for better inter-island and regional connectivity and extending the service in 2026 allows us to build on that momentum.’

He said that by working in partnership with Jersey, and improving the marketing and booking systems, they were giving this route the best possible chance to succeed.

‘Importantly, Finistair and Water Taxi CI will complement one another, helping us to better understand demand without undermining our vital PSO lifeline services.

‘This initiative clearly demonstrates Alderney’s ambition to support economic revitalisation by improving how residents, visitors and businesses connect to and from the island.’

Kirsten Morel, Jersey’s Sustainable Economic Development minister, added: ‘We value the historic, mutually beneficial connections between the Channel Islands and Brittany, and we remain committed to strengthening international connectivity for islanders and our regional partners.

‘That’s why we’re delighted to renew this partnership with our friends in Alderney and Brest for an extended trial in summer 2026 and wish Finistair every success.’
