Plans go in for 85 houses at the Mallard complex

Eighty-five new homes are on the way near the airport as a planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of the Mallard site.

Sixty-nine of the properties would be ‘affordable’ homes for the GHA, with the remainder privately-owned.

The site is being brought forward by developers Infinity Construction, in partnership with Guernsey Housing Association.

Sixty-nine of the properties would be ‘affordable’ homes for the GHA, with the remainder privately-owned. It is expected that there will be 34 houses and 51 apartments on the site. Each will be built to a similar design.

‘Submitting the planning application is the first step towards providing much-needed new homes for the island, and we’re really pleased to be working in partnership with Infinity Construction again,’ said Vic Slade, chief executive of the GHA.

‘By working together, we can provide a mix of both affordable and private homes, which means we can tackle housing needs across different tenures, rather than just one or the other. This is an important step as it’s the first of the various approvals we need to take the project forward.’

Paul Nobes from Infinity thanked several people involved in the project so far for enabling it to reach this stage.

‘Getting to this stage has taken a huge amount of collaboration and expertise from everyone involved,’ he said.

‘We’re excited to continue working with GHA to deliver high-quality new homes for the island.’

It is the second time the builders have worked with the GHA on a development, following a project at Les Oberlands.

The Mallard site received outline planning permission in December 2025 at an open planning meeting. It was identified as one of only two sites which could quickly provide ‘affordable’ homes.

Planning officers described the project as an exceptional case for housing and received the backing of the political members of the Development & Planning Authority.
