‘We might head to London for a last crack at city life for a bit, but Guernsey’s where we want to be long term, especially when we start having children,’ said Mr Bradshaw.
In the hit Netflix show last month, the couple revealed how their marriage had stayed strong after a year – and they said that Guernsey had played a significant part in enabling that to happen.
After they finished filming the show, which sees its successfully coupled-up contestants actually marry one another, the pair initially went travelling for several months in order to try to deepen their recently-formed connection.
On returning to the UK in April, they decided to make the move to Guernsey, where they initially had to keep their relationship status a secret.
‘We thought we’d have a good chance of keeping everything quiet here,’ said Mr Bradshaw.
A key draw of Love Is Blind is its one-year post-wedding ‘reunion episode’, which reveals to the viewers which couples have survived the test of time. This also prevented Mrs Domaille from legally changing her name.
But what began as a somewhat tactical decision soon developed for Mr Bradshaw into a strong love for his new wife’s island home.
‘Jack loves Guernsey. It’s honestly one of his favourite places, he’s very, very happy here,’ said Mrs Domaille.
‘I really think it’s the place for me,’ added Mr Bradshaw, pointing to the welcoming reception of Mrs Domaille’s family, as well as his job with Omega Group and friends at Sylvans football club, as being key in making him feel so at home.
The premise of the show sees its contestants first meet one another via ‘pods’ – small, closed-off rooms that enable contestants to hear, but not see one another.
It is through these pods that, over the course of 10 days, contestants talk to one another, go on dates and, hopefully, successfully pair up.
Such was the case for Mr Bradshaw and Mrs Domaille.
‘Every single time I spoke to Jack, I had the best time ever,’ said Mrs Domaille. ‘It was like talking to a best friend. I was 100% myself. He was 100% himself.’
Those who are coupled-up then end the 10 days of pods with a proposal, without ever having seen their potential fiance’s face.
Despite the nerve-wracking premise, Mr Bradshaw felt sure when he popped the question to Mrs Domaille.
‘It was day five of the pods that I knew,’ said Mr Bradshaw. ‘We had a 20-minute date which I left laughing so hard my sides were splitting.’
Before actually walking down the aisle, the show integrates several more stages to allow its couples to test the water further.
Firstly, there is ‘the reveal’ where they are finally allowed to meet one another face to face. Each couple is then sent on a short holiday and, upon returning, also move in together for several weeks to test their compatibility further.
Then the day of the wedding arrives.
For Mr Bradshaw and Mrs Domaille, both said ‘I do’, and despite their unconventional manner of meeting they have remained strong as a couple ever since.
They celebrated their lasting marriage – and the fact that they no longer had to keep it a secret from family and friends – upon the release of the reunion episode over the August bank holiday weekend.
When considering the success of their relationship, and the lessons they have learnt about love from being a part of Love Is Blind, both pointed to the security they have come to expect from the love the other gives them.
‘I’ve learned that love should always be freely given, and you should never ask to feel love. And the right person will give it very freely, and you’ll never have to work to earn it,’ said Mrs Domaille.
‘Love is a two-way street,’ Mr Bradshaw added. ‘You don’t need just to give it. You need to receive it. And that’s why we’ve worked, I think. I don’t just love Faye, I feel loved by her.’
