Sarnian quartet lose inter-island clash at Royal Leamington Spa
THE British men's outdoor bowls championships got off to a poor start for Guernsey's bowlers at Royal Leamington Spa.

In last evening's inter-island senior fours opener against Jersey, Vale Rec quartet Ken Laine, Don Ogier, Nigel Collins and Len Le Ber found themselves 3-15 adrift at 10 ends.
They had dropped the first five shots in four ends, were 2-11 down after seven and things did not improve.
Although they did not drop big counts, they were restricted to four singles and two doubles over 19 ends and lost 24-8.
Laine will also be leading for Guernsey in the 'open' fours today, so at least he is free to concentrate on that one event now.
