The Muratti is a very special public event, ingrained into the fabric of Channel Island life and people, be they lovers of sport or not.
Win the Muratti and for 12 months you rule the roost in the islands, irrespective of population statistics, financial power, tourist numbers and sunshine hours.
In 110 years of competition Jersey have made their population advantage count and won 52 finals to Guernsey's 45, with one other final shared after two games in 1937 failed to split the sides.
Alderney, the third and often forgotten party, have lifted the Vase just once.
More than a thousand separate players have won caps since the first game in 1905 and to have been capped by your island on the football field still ranks as one of the greatest honours a CI sportsman can enjoy.
The names of the vast majority of those 1,000-plus players will have long faded from the memories of CI football fans, but there will always be Muratti legends.
To mark the 100th Muratti Vase final at Springfield this May, the Guernsey Press and the Jersey Evening Post, are publishing a commemorative book that will feature the 100 best players in the history of the fixture as chosen by the two papers, with your help.
'Muratti 100' is a one-off limited edition celebration of the great annual clash, with profiles of those 100 Muratti greats.
You can expect to see dozens of previously unpublished or unseen photographs of the game through the ages, plus team shots and statistical analysis of all the top players through the 12 decades of the competition.
There will never be a greater opportunity to revel in the nostalgic glory of this great game and we want our readers to get involved with your own recommendations as to which players should feature in 'Muratti 100'.
But rather than struggle to name 100, just send us your all-time best Muratti XI, regardless of island.
Your opinion will help us to settle on the final 100 to be featured in the book, which can be pre-ordered by filling in the coupon that appears in today's Guernsey Press.
Send us your teams via email to Muratti100@guernseypress.com and see your suggestions published in the newspaper in the build-up to the 2016 showdown.
Do you know of relatives outside the island who might be interested in Muratti 100? If so and regardless of where they are living in the world, send us their contact details (postal address and/or email) and we can arrange delivery of this special edition.
