The emphatic 7-2 scoreline does not tell the whole story, though, as Jez Robin’s men had to come from behind twice against Manzur on the KGV 3G before pulling clear of the men in orange in the final quarter of the match.
Marlon Jardim had given Manzur a 20th minute lead with a firm strike into the roof of the net, but Rovers went into the interval on level terms thanks to Ben Le Tocq, who coolly dispatched a penalty after Colton Fletcher had been brought down in the box.
Manzur regained the lead with their own spot kick in the second minute of the second half, Gareth Holden converting after Rovers were penalised for handball.
Strawbridge turned home Sam Hall’s corner on the hour to equalise once more before Fazakerley put them ahead for the first time on 67min.
The captain scored the next two within the space of 90 seconds, heading home from another Hall corner for his second before completing his hat-trick by chesting down Le Tocq’s cross and finishing on the volley.
Fazakerley got number six with a deflected shot before completing the scoring with a sublime left-footed curler into the top corner.
