Guernsey put up an impressive showing in the Ravenscroft Men’s Inter-Insular over the Royal Jersey Golf Club course where the Sarnians have not won since 1980, but the home side finished strongly in yesterday morning’s singles to secure a 12-8 victory.

Jeremy Nicolle was the star of the show for Guernsey, taking a maximum three points from the three sessions including coming back from 4 down to beat Phill Evans 2 & 1 in the concluding singles.

Nicolle’s partner in the Saturday fourballs and foursomes, 16-year-old Ollie Chedhomme, enjoyed an unbeaten debut as he added a half from his singles clash to their two victories as a pair.

However, after finishing the opening fourballs level at two-and-a-half points apiece, Jersey moved ahead by taking three-and-a-half points from the Saturday afternoon foursomes and then claimed six points from the 10 singles matches to lift the silverware.
