Muratti now back on Tardif’s agenda
ISLAND men’s football team manager Chris Tardif has reset his sights on regaining the Muratti Vase after having his appeal against an alleged breach of FA Standard Code of Rules upheld.
Back in July, the Guernsey Football League Management board released a statement saying that Manzur and one of the club’s representatives, who was revealed as being Tardif by the club, were being sanctioned after an investigation into that alleged breach, which apparently arose following another club’s complaint about them tapping up players.
While the club were being fined £600 as well as a suspended nine-point deduction, the former professional goalkeeper was facing a two-year ban from working in open-age club competition, but he has now been cleared by the Guernsey Football Association.
‘I am pleased to confirm that my appeal against the decision of the GFLM was upheld by the appeal board of the GFA, who ruled that the GFLM had misinterpreted the rules or regulations,’ he said.
‘The sanction initially imposed against me has therefore been rescinded, and the GLFM has confirmed in writing that it now considers the matter closed.
‘While this whole episode has caused me, and those close to me, a considerable amount of personal distress and in my view could and should have been handled very differently by the GFLM, I was overwhelmed by the amount of support I received from my family and friends, and the football community at large throughout, and I would like to place on record my thanks to everyone who has helped me through the process.
‘I am now looking forward to continuing to try and give something back to the Island which gave me the grounding to my professional career in the sport, and in particular doing everything I can to try and win the Muratti Vase back.’
