Guernsey take big step towards final with win over Estonia
GUERNSEY beat Estonia on Sunday to put themselves in pole position to reach the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier C.
The home side dominated their previously unbeaten opponents virtually from the moment Ollie Nightingale won the toss and elected to bowl, restricting them to 99 from their 20 overs with three wickets apiece for player-of-the-match Harry Johnson and his fellow teenager Charlie Forshaw while Luke Bichard claimed two.
The Greens then chased down their target in just 12.1 overs to win by five wickets.
Tom Nightingale top scored with 34 from 16 balls, Josh Butler contributed 29 and Matt Stokes saw Guernsey over the line with 18 not out.
It was an impressive response to their narrow defeat to Finland on Saturday and Guernsey sit top of group two on six points having completed their round-robin fixtures. They have a far superior run-rate to both Estonia and Finland, who both have four points with a match to play on Tuesday.
The final will be on Wednesday at the KGV at 3.30pm.
