Saints take over at the top of the Priaulx League
THE Priaulx League champions won their big top of the table clash with Sylvans on Tuesday night – but it is St Martin's who now lead the way.
The Corbet Field passed a late pitch inspection following the heavy evening showers and Vale Rec took the lead thanks to a spectacular long-range strike from Marlon Jardim on 7min.
It proved to be an entertaining contest, but the home side created the more clear-cut chances and Jacques Wilcox added a second early in the second half to complete the scoring in a 2-0 victory.
However, St Martin's leapfrogged Mark Romeril's side into first place on goal difference as they won 7-0 against Bels at the Track, with six of the goals coming after half-time.
George Goubert scored twice and there were also goals for George Mason, Tito Guimaraes, Callum Le Lacheur, Charlie Coleman and Louis Hunter.
In the other game of the top-flight triple-header, Rovers beat Northerners 3-2 at Northfield.
Zach Masterton-Pipet opened the scoring for the visitors but the hosts were level at half-time following a Tyler McKane own goal.
Robbie Legg scored twice after the break to put Rovers 3-1 ahead before North pulled one back through another own goal, this time from Keir Donaldson.
