The Port Soif outfit have been in good form in the Priaulx League, having won five of their last six games, and have an opportunity to test themselves against the leaders at Victoria Park tomorrow afternoon.
A win would see Rovers overtake St Martin’s in the table after their midweek game against Rangers was called off due to an unsurprisingly unplayable pitch.
They would move to within a point of North, having played a game more.
‘First of all, we are glad to be playing. The weather has been horrendous so we were lucky to move it to Victoria Park, but this will be a good opportunity for us,’ said Gillease.
‘If we win, game on, we will be right in with a chance. Before December I said we wouldn’t have had a chance, but we have dragged ourselves back into it.
‘This has ended up probably being our biggest match so far.’
The last few times the two sides have faced each other North have come away with the result, but both were close encounters.
‘You never really know which way it’s going to go against North, there is always a chaotic moment whether it’s a late goal or a refereeing decision, it’s become one of those fixtures,’ said Gillease.
Rovers will be boosted by the return of Adam Bullock, who was away for their last match, and Tyler McKane is set to return from injury.
‘We have Ty back which is great, he will strap up and take a few painkillers, he wouldn’t want to miss this one,’ said Gillease.
Blair Howitt misses out and Keir Donaldson has a back problem.
North are expecting to be boosted by a few returnees.
‘Apart from the long-term injuries we pretty much have everyone back in now after some niggles,’ said Charlie Le Prevost.
The North head coach is expecting a tough game and is looking forward to seeing his side play a Priaulx League fixture after a lengthy period without one.
‘It’s just good to get another game in to be honest, I think it’s been two months since we last played in the league, but the three points would be good,’ he said.
‘We’re taking each game as it comes. They’ve been playing well, so it will be a challenge for us.’
A win would see North go six points clear of St Martin’s at the top of the Priaulx League.
Rovers v North kicks off at 1.30pm tomorrow at Victoria Park.
Elsewhere in the Priaulx League, Rangers are due to host Sylvans at the KGV and Vale Rec host Bels at Corbet Field, should the weather allow. Both kick off at 2pm.
