The heavy morning rain left the Corbet Field unplayable, so the match was moved to Northfield and kicked off two hours later than scheduled, but the visitors did not care one jot come full time with goals from James Murphy, Casey Nixon and Arthur Illingworth giving them a 3-1 win. Keene Domaille scored North's consolation.

'There's a historic rivalry. Obviously I'm only 32 so I don't quite know how it how it predates me, but I've been made aware the importance of this rivalry,' said Jersey Wanderers manager Chris Gill.

'So we know the importance of this fixture and you know, it just added that little bit of spice coming up to their ground and winning it on their ground, it's an unbelievable feeling.'

North boss Charlie Le Prevost could not hide his disappointment afterwards.

'Probably a little bit frustrating because we thought we had a good opportunity to go and win the game actually,' he said.

'Being a bit brutally honest, I don't think they're as good as what we expected them to be, which probably adds to our frustration, but at the end of the day, they scored the goals and won the game, so credit to them.'
