There were signs of disharmony after his election, with vice-president Jan Kuttelwascher announcing he would quit and the others said to be considering their positions.

He beat current vice-president Deputy Kuttelwascher by just one vote for the role yesterday.

Deputy Joe Mooney was going to make a decision on his future overnight, while Jennifer Merrett and Andrea Dudley Owen both refused to comment.

While the candidates were quizzed, Deputy Parkinson expressed a lack of support for Economic Development’s vision, saying he wanted it pulled from debate next month.

After being elected, Deputy Parkinson said that if he did have to present it he would make his views on it clear.
