Planning applications to repair the pumps in Church Square and the one in Lefebvre Street have already been submitted, but the parish also intends to restore the other water pumps in St Peter Port.

‘A number of them needed to be refurbished,’ said St Peter Port constable Jenny Tasker.

‘We are taking positive action to get them to how they should be.’

The water pump in Mount Row has already been restored and the work on the water pump in the Pollet has also been completed. The parish are also looking to repair the old water pumps in Trinity Square and Park Street.

‘They need a lot of work done,’ said Mrs Tasker.

The water pumps were all surveyed last summer by CCD Architects.

Each pump has been rated, with 10 meaning it is in excellent condition and one meaning that the pump needs urgent attention.

The Lefebvre Street pump was rated a 5/10 and the Church Square pump was rated 7/10.

‘It is something that we had been looking at for a long time as we had received complaints, so we did a survey of them all,’ said Mrs Tasker.

‘It will take time to do all of them and the planning applications also take time.’
