The film, Hugo, will tell the story of how a man and his daughter connect through the works of Victor Hugo.
Scenes have been shot at St Peter Port Harbour, the Pandora Hotel, Hauteville and Hauteville House.
The movie is being directed by Pascal Bonitzer and produced by CG Films, which summarises it as ‘a film that reinvents Hugo and invites us to take a fresh look at him – and at ourselves.’
It is starring actors Fabrice Luchini and Sandrine Kiberlain, who have won Cesars – the French equivalent of an Oscar – and the film is based on a book by Thierry Consigny.
A VisitGuernsey spokesman said it was contacted by a film scout in April and it had liaised with Ports and Traffic & Highway Services to ensure the crew could access the areas they needed.
‘Obviously, we’re keen to support projects like this, which help to promote our cultural offering in the form of Victor Hugo, to a growing French audience,’ he said.
