The UK Met Office has issued yellow wind warnings for the entire south of the UK, while Guernsey is expecting south-west winds of above force six from Sunday lunchtime and throughout that night.
Brittany Ferries has cancelled its fast ferry sailings between Guernsey, St Malo and Poole on Sunday and Monday.
The timing is unfortunate, as parents help local students head off to university – often with full cars. An extra fast sailing is being put on for Tuesday.
A slow sailing by the island’s conventional ferry is still listed as running overnight on Saturday night, and the sailing updates board also has the vessel sailing on Monday, but no tickets are available to buy for Sunday or Monday on any service.
Sark Shipping is warning it may face disruption. Islands Unlimited has cancelled its weekend services between Guernsey and Jersey due to the forecast.
