The 5km run through St Peter Port was to raise awareness of male cancers as well as funds for the charity.
‘It was wonderful. The sun came out, a really good attendance and everything went really smoothly,’ said organiser and MUG council member Mike Richards.
The event started at the Bathing Pools, with runners making their way along the seafront before returning to the pools, where they were welcomed with some much needed refreshments and a chance to cool down with a dip.
Mr Richards said that, due to the first run’s success, it would become an annual event and he hopes it can grow further over the coming years.
‘This will be going for 100 years – we want to triple the number of people, men and women, so it will be bikinis and budgys,’ he said.
Urologist and MUG council member Dr Owen Cole said that money raised will stay in Guernsey and be used to continue raising awareness and to buy medical equipment.
‘It was a great spectacle and people have been asking what it’s for so hopefully it will get bigger next year,’ he said.
The event, sponsored by Convex, raised more than £4,000 for MUG.
