Yellow line painted along Cobo Coast Road

A yellow line has been painted on the sea side of a stretch of Cobo Coast Road to officially tackle one of the most controversial issues seen every summer on the west coast.

People parking on the bend between the two car parks has been an ongoing issue, especially when the beaches are busy. This week a yellow line has been painted between the two no waiting signs.

‘The yellow line along the sea side of the Cobo coast road by the kiosk has been installed to prevent unauthorised parking following reports of vehicles parking between that section of the road and the no waiting signs that were installed in 2024,’ said Colin Le Page, Traffic & Highway Services’ strategy and policy manager.

‘The signage was installed to prevent cars from parking on the grass verge and the path on the sea side of Cobo coast road, which was forcing pedestrians into the road and also pushing traffic into the middle of the road, often around a blind corner.

‘After Traffic & Highway undertook further correspondence with Guernsey Police, it was agreed that measures should be strengthened by replacing the no waiting signs with the yellow line to prevent unauthorised parking.’

The yellow line covers a longer stretch of road than the two no waiting signs and goes up to the triangular car park along Cobo Coast Road.
