On the same day the former captain and player, who had played 186 times for the club, announced he was giving up, the Green Lions were winning 2-1 at Faversham Town and, for the second time in four days, having waited nearly four years, Paris Pereira netted the winner that helped lift the team to 17th in the Bostik South table.

‘We got the win and to get six points in two games is massive for the club considering the circumstances we went into this week in,' said GFC manager Tony Vance.

Just hours after the game, Cochrane, who has been sidelined with injury in recent weeks, announced to his team-mates that his six-year playing association with the club was ending.
