GLR score three tries to none to see off Windsor

A SMALL but vocal crowd braved the elements to watch Guernsey Ladies Rugby pick up their fifth win of the season on Sunday.

Both they and visitors Windsor Dames tried to play open running rugby but were thwarted by the weather at Footes Lane and the subsequent handling errors gave rise to a huge number of scrums.

The teams were evenly matched in both the forwards and backs and a superb defensive effort by GLR kept Windsor from crossing the line, their only scores coming from two penalties, while Guernsey managed three unconverted tries.

The first came from Tanya Scholtz as the hosts held a narrow 5-3 lead before Justeen Baker and Jessica Melville both touched down after the interval in a 15-6 success.
