The 20-year-old is already experienced in both coaching and representing the island – he is an ECB Level Two coach and has played for Guernsey at various age-group levels, including as part of the squad that competed in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.

‘I’m proud to be a product of Guernsey’s cricketing pathway, and I’m committed to continuing my coaching development, supporting young cricketers, and hopefully helping to build the next generation of players,’ Carre said.

‘We are looking to develop players not only as athletes but as confident and respectful competitors. Growing cricket in the community and making cricket accessible to all is one of my main objectives.’

Carre’s work will focus on delivering high-quality coaching across schools, clubs, and representative squads.

He has also represented Guernsey on the basketball court, including at the 2023 home Island Games.

‘My multi-sport background gives me a well-rounded perspective on athletic development and the importance of mindset, fitness, and tactical awareness – all key components in modern cricket.’

Guernsey Cricket chief operating officer Richard Headington welcomed the new appointment.

‘Blake brings an impressive blend of experience, passion and ambition to the role,’ he said.

‘His commitment to the game, combined with his personal experience in international youth cricket, makes him a fantastic addition to the team.

‘His energy and vision will be invaluable as we continue to grow the game at all levels across the island.’
